UPE, Ultra-high Molecular weight compulsory (also known as UHMW-PE) is a thermoplastic engineering plastic with molecular weight higher than 1.5 million. With molecular chain length is 10 ~ 20 times of high density polyethylene, longer molecular chain (higher molecular weight) gives the UHMW-PE's main advantage lies in toughness, wear resistance and resistance to stress cracking, because it is one of the polyethylene, UHMWPE has lubricity, chemical resistance and good performance of general HDPE, its successful development is widely considered to be one of the top ten scientific and technological achievements in the 20th century.
Material
UHMWPE is a rubber-shaped elastomer with poor fluidity and high viscosity in the molten state. It can only be formed by pressing and sintering in the early stage, and can also be processed by extrusion, injection molding and blow molding at present. Mechanical properties are higher than normal HIGH density polyethylene. Outstanding impact resistance, stress cracking resistance, high temperature creep resistance, low friction coefficient, self-lubrication, excellent chemical resistance, fatigue resistance, noise damping, nuclear radiation resistance, etc.
