Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (Abbreviation UHMW-PE below) refers to more than 3 million molecular weight polyethylene with linear structure which has the best performance factor of all the engineering plastic. Main Characters of UHMW-PE:
1.Impact Resistance
The impact resistance of UHMW-PE is the best of all kinds the engineer plastic which is 3 times than Nylon, 2 times than Polycarbonate and 5 times than ABS. Compare with other plastic, it could endure the impact in a long time, even keep its toughness in -196ºC. In addition, UHMW-PE itself also has good wear and corrosion resistance. It could be the best material when in the complicated and hostile environments.
2.Light weight& Easy-processable
The weight of UHMW-PE is lighter than water, even less than 1/8 of steel. It cost less than steel with the same quality. It has a very good economy because it is easy to maintain and easy-processable such as milling, drilling, digging and sawing etc.
3.Wear Resistance
The wear resistance of UHMW-PE is better than any other plastic, even better than some steel material such as stainless steel.
4.Self-lubricating
UHMW-PE has self-lubricating performance. It could work without lubricating oil, even its performances are better than carbon steel or copper which is added lubricating oil when it turn or slide. As a friction part, it could work without the lubricating oil and maintain convenient. UHMW-PE is an ideal material because of its stable performance, reducing noise and wearing resistance. It could also protect its mating plate.
5. Shock& Noise Absorption
UHMWPE has a good resistance performance because of its best impact-absorption ability among all the plastic material. Therefore, it also has a superior performance on shock& noise absorbing.
